The polar caps are melting like the icecream
in my hand on a sunny afternoon.
I know there are so many reasons to be unhappy and yet you
make me smile.
Because the lines on your hands hold a universe.
Because your hands too, are getting older, decaying.

You tell me « fine » when I ask you how you are.
I want to hold you and ask again.
Ask more real.
I want to ask « How do you do it?
How do you take care of yourself?
How can you breathe when so many things around us
take breath away? »

For I want to understand how to live with all those
questions around us. How to hold multiple truths
(like your hands hold an universe).
But I’m a coward. I don’t ask, once again.
For I learned to fear real questions.
Because things seem too entangled to understand.
And yet, that web is beautiful.

For I was told that everything that comes into being
will fall apart.
For I felt it is true.
And it made me cry, made me tremble.
Because it also means freedom.
Because I try to look at the world through fresh eyes now.

Life is overflowing with sadness and beauty and I’ve lost myself in it.
